Autumn Canvas Prints – Inspiration | Your Image
Summer may be coming to an end, but don’t worry because that means that it’s time to get out with the camera and shoot some inspirational images for your autumn canvas prints.
This week we’re going to give you some great ideas for classic autumn images – and some more unusual ones!
Autumn – the best season for photography?
When we think of autumn we often bring to mind the stunning colour palette that nature provides free of charge – and it would be almost criminal to ignore it! Here are some of the classic seasonal images we think make great autumn canvas prints:
Stormy landscape – Everything needs to fall into place for this to work, but if it does it’s a great shot to hang on your wall. Find a landscape scene (or a single tree) with a dark and stormy sky as a backdrop; wait for the golden hour sun to fall over your shoulder and bathe the scene in gorgeous golden light before shooting some great photos!
Reflections – Landscapes that involve reflections are always interesting, but the wonderful autumnal colours enhance the impact these shots have on the viewer. Look for a park with a large lake, nice even lighting conditions and a calm day so that the reflections mirror the scenery.
Misty mornings – Look for secluded lowlands where mist falls over the trees while the sunlight streams through them to create magical autumnal scenes.
Use the sun – You don’t need mist to make those shafts of sunlight work for you: a walk through the woods will offer many opportunities to shoot beams of light through the trees, so keep your eyes peeled for the perfect shot!
Unusual autumnal images
Autumn also presents us with some great opportunities to think outside the box and be creative with our photography. Take a stroll through the woods and you’ll find plenty of details to shoot:
Fungi – Mushrooms start to appear from September, and you’ll find some beautiful species growing on trees and damp areas on the ground. Get down low, find clean examples, and shoot them in natural light or with off camera flash.
Abstracts – Think about light and shade for your abstracts. Try shooting out of focus images that capture the light and colour of autumn, moving your camera across colourful scenes while the shutter is open, and zooming in or out while shooting.
We get excited every year when we receive your autumn canvas print ideas, and we hope that this year you feel inspired to send us your favourites again.
