Help with Your Canvas Printing Questions

As a first time buyer of canvas prints (photos to canvas) you may have many questions that you would like to see answered. We want to make the process of ordering your photo to canvas online as easy as we can possibly make it and therefore we have answered the most asked questions in the list below. Photos and Images

Q: If I only have a traditional photograph can I still order a canvas print?
Yes of course you can! If you have a traditional photograph with no way of scanning it then simply opt to send your image / photograph in the post. This option is available during the order process. On completion of the online order for your canvas print you will be given an order reference number which you should include when sending the photograph to us. After we've produced your canvas print we will return your photograph by post.

Q: What size does my image need to be?
For a really good quality print we recommend that your image is at least 300kb even for the smaller sized prints. The larger the image the better and sharper the final canvas print will be. For large sized canvas prints (+30" x 40") we recommend at least 1MB image but again the bigger the original image the better the final canvas prints will be. You can upload up to 10MB on our website so if you do have a higher resolution image then please upload the highest size image you have as it will result in a far sharper and clearer image. A normal digital camera with the settings on high will give you 3MB photos. These can easily be used to print the biggest size canvas prints.

Q: What resolution do you canvas printer's print to?
We always print at 2880 x 1440 dpi for all our canvas prints, the highest resolution on the market.

Q: What happens if my image is too low in quality?
If we detect that your image is really too small to produce a high quality canvas print we will contact you by e-mail or by phone if you have left your phone number so we can reach you. If you ordered a really big canvas with a very small image we will suggest getting a smaller size canvas. If you paid too much we will refund the extra amount. We do not decline any prints. In some cases somebody wants to print a really low quality mage because the person on the photo decided and doesn't have a better image. In such cases we will make contact to confirm.

Canvas Print Quality

Q: How do I know if my image will be suitable to print?
We recommend a file size of at least 500kb to ensure a good quality canvas. If a smaller image than 500kb is uploaded it is our belief that you are aware that the image may not be at its sharpest and will be printed. If the image is very low quality which pixelates and distorts greatly, we will contact you to inform you. If you are unsure of how to check the quality, then we have a helpful team who are more than happy to check this for you before ordering and would provide advise on sizing.

Q: Can you remove blemishes and imperfections?
Images should also be checked for imperfections before printing; if a blemish needs removing please state this when ordering. We will not remove anything unless asked. If you notice an imperfection you wish to remove please do state this on your order and we try our best to remove this. If we are unable to we will contact you.

Q: What media do you use for my photo to canvas?
Your canvas gets printed on 415 gsm true artist canvas, in brilliant white for an extremely clear finish. We only print on the finest canvas.

Q: What inks do you use to create my canvas print?
We only use genuine Epson Ultra Chrome K3 inks for all our canvas prints. We believe these inks are the best on the market. Using a 9-colour ink system with 4 different shades of black to ensure all canvas prints are printed with the most vibrant colours.

Q: What do you make your frames from?
The frames we use are made using the finest pine and are available in two different depths. Roughly 1" (exact 1.9cm/0.75inch) and extra chunky 2" (exact 4.4cm/1.75inch). Please all -/+ 2mm tolerance. The timber is sourced from managed forests (we do like to do our part for the environment) and is carefully selected and stored.

Q: Do you offer custom sized canvas prints?
Yes we can create any size custom canvas print. The custom size tool can be selected when placing your order. You can plus and minus the dimensions till you reach your desired canvas print size. Alternatively you can email us your photo and dimensions and we will happily quote a price for the finished canvas print.

Shipping and Delivery

Q: How much is the cost of delivery?
Any order being shipped to the UK Mainland has a Free next day delivery. However, UK Offshore addresses have a £9.99 charge which will be applied in the checkout.

Q: When should I expect delivery of my canvas?
If you place your order before 3pm Monday - Thursday, your canvas will be dispatched that very same day. If you place the order after 3pm Monday - Thursday, the canvas will be dispatched the next working day. Orders placed after 3pm Friday and over the weekend, orders will be dispatched Monday (Except Bank Holidays, in which they would be dispatched Tuesday).

We dispatch the canvases either by InterLink or Royal Mail; both on a 24 hour delivery service (Monday-Friday). The service is not a guaranteed service and may be unexpected delays. We can not be held responsible if our third party courier experiences delays

Q: Do I receive tracking information?
Yes, we will email you with details on which courier your canvas will be dispatched with and a tracking number.

Q: What are the time frames in which the canvas can be delivered?
InterLink deliver Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm.

Royal Mail deliver Monday-Friday up until around 4pm.

These times can alter dependant on delays in local areas and depots.

Q: Can you deliver on Saturday?
Yes, there is an extra charge of £15.00 to do so.

Q: Can I change address?
If an order has not been processed it may be changed. However, during peak times it may not be possible to make any alterations and it is at our discretion to alter this. Once dispatched only orders dispatched through InterLink may be changed and it comes at a charge of £15.00 (this is a charge made by our courier, not by ourselves). Again, we will try and make this amendment if possible, it may not be possible at peak times.

Q: Can I leave my canvas safe?
You would need to ask us if you would like your canvas leaving safe or with a neighbour. The canvases are sent on a signed for service and would need someone available for delivery unless you specify to us to leave this.

If a parcel has been asked to be left safe, it is your responsibility to ensure that it is safe and we will not replace any that have been left safe under your permission.

We will pass this information onto our couriers who should carry out these instructions. We cannot be held responsible if these instructions are not carried out.

Q: My canvas has been returned to the sender, what do I need to do?
Orders that are returned tend to be due to failed delivery attempts and failure to collect from the depot; further reasons include the provision of incorrect addresses. In order for us to re-dispatch this we would need to take payment of £5.99 to cover the cost of postage and packaging. You can call on 0808 168 5243 and one of the sales team will aid in the re-dispatch of the order. We will hold the print for reasonable time at least 3 months to give consumers time to contact us. However, if we have had no contact after this time frame to re-dispatch we will dispose of the print.

Secure Payment

Q: Are my payments secure?
Yes your payments are taken using secure socket layer (SSL) technology. This basically means that this website uses Encryption technology. You can check this in the top of your browser next to the url or yourimage2canvas where it says: http(s) and in all browsers you can see a lock icon either on top or at the bottom of the browser. This FAQ page is obviously not secured. The moment you enter the ordering process you will see that we encrypt all your personal data (information). You can check the certificate issued to Ultra Print in the top right corner of the website. You can pay with any major credit card. Visa, MasterCard, HSBC, Solo, Maestro but we also take payments via cheques or postal orders. If you have any payment issues please contact us and we'll assist you during checkout.

Q: Are my details kept private?
Yes. We don't collect any payment information. All payments are handled securely by HSBC and they don't send that information to us. On top of that we hate spam just like you. We will never sell, give or distribute your information to any third party.

Cleaning your Canvas

Q: How do i clean my canvas prints?
We do not advise cleaning your canvas prints with anything wet. Dry dusting is the best method of cleaning for all your canvas prints.

Q: Where and how can i hang my canvas print?
We recommend that you hang your canvas away from any heat sources (Radiators and fires) as this can result in some warping of the canvas in some cases. The easiest and cheapest way to hang your canvas is to simply use a nail in the wall for the canvas to hang from.


Q: Can I return my canvas print?
In the unlikely event that your canvas print arrives damaged we will endeavour to put this right and have the canvas reprinted. We must be notified within 14 days of receipt.  We will only reprint the original file and specifications chosen; no alterations can be made to reprints.

Reprints are at our discretion; we will not reprint an order that has been fulfilled to your requirements. It is up to the customer to ensure the specifications selected are correct before ordering. We are available through email and telephone to provide advice on the ordering process and to check quality and sizing before ordering to ensure the specifications suit your needs. If an order is placed we assume the specifications chosen are what is required and will print as best we can with the requirements chosen.

We recommend that images are selected carefully, prior to purchasing as these are bespoke products we do not provide refunds unless faulty. It is the customers responsibility to provide a good quality image; if you are unsure we are available before purchasing to check this for you.

Canvas prints are bespoke made to order items and do not comply with general returns policy's. We will only reprint faulty or incorrect prints; we do not issue other reprints if the order has been fulfilled to your requested requirements. We must be notified within 7 days of receipt to entitled to a reprint, if it is damaged or under our discretion.

Gift Vouchers

Q: Does my gift voucher have an expiry date?
Yes, gift vouchers are valid for a 12 month period from the date of purchase. You will receive a letter with the voucher which includes the date of purchase and terms on. We advise that this letter is passed on the recipient if it is a present in order for them to know the terms and expiry. Once this date has expired your voucher will be invalid and no longer useable; therefore we advice you to know when the expiry date is to avoid it becoming invalid.
