Using colour for vibrant and fresh photography inspiration
Let’s welcome in the new year with a fresh burst of creativity; here are some bright and breezy photography inspiration ideas to start 2022 off with a pop (of colour)!
Get your rocks off
Geology has never been so much fun! Get out searching for pebbles in similar colours, you can arrange these in a thoughtful pattern; sort by tone, light to dark, to create a beautiful piece of artwork ready to be photographed.
Is there anything more pleasing than a nature walk at the cusp of summer and autumn? Capture that magic by collecting and photographing leaves from a tree as the colours change; you can print and display separate leaves in one of our collage prints, or collect and arrange the leaves before photographing a single image. With the colours available, there are lots of ways you can play with arrangements to find the visual that works for you.
A new kind of fashion photography?
Find yourself a standalone clothes rail and gather your boldest, brightest clothing items to create a rainbow rail for photographing. This photo looks best with great lighting and a neutral background, so make sure you prep well for a snap you’ll be delighted with.
Explore another culture
Some cities and towns have areas dedicated to other cultures, for example ‘Chinatown’ or areas where many people from the Caribbean or India gather in communities. Many cultures celebrate the use of colour in different ways; we recommend a little adventure in your locality to see what photography inspiration is around the corner. For example, walk past a sari/saree shop and the eye-catching colours will soon offer up some prime photography inspiration.
Let’s go fly a kite
A fun day out at a kite event is also a great opportunity to get some stunning colourful snaps of the array of beautiful kites weaving in and out of the clouds. You’ll need a bit of technical know-how for this one, as these guys move fast!
Up, up and away!
Another fun idea if you can find one locally enough is a hot air balloon event. Head on down for some colourful photo opportunities and a lovely family-friendly event all rolled into one.
We absolutely love the elegance and beauty of a stained glass window; the history, the reverence, and the colour all make for a feast of photography inspiration.
If you have the taste for adventure, get up high and take some snaps of differing shades across a rolling landscape. Overlooking farmland, a craggy mountain range, or even the beautiful tones of dusty sand dune are all great spots for capturing inspirational photographs.
We hope this has given you a few ideas for your next project, or has sparked some bright ideas of alternative ways you can harness the beauty of colour for your images. We’re always thinking up new ideas for photography inspiration, so keep checking in to see what else might get you snapping!
