Canvas Prints From Photos – Making Summer Memories
The long summer months are all about spending time on holiday with your loved ones, and the best way to immortalise those memories is by creating some fab canvas prints from photos you’ve taken throughout the season. This month we’re going to give you some ideas for ways to create fun images to hang on your wall or give as gifts to family members – it’s the best way to share that holiday feeling!
What photos make the best prints?
Family pictures are always so popular – we print canvas prints from photos like these all the time – but there’s definitely a right and wrong way of doing it, and with a little creative thinking you can give your family snaps a bit of ‘wow factor’.
Here are a few suggestions for when you hit the beach:
Think dynamic – Photos with life in them grab people’s attention, so try setting your camera on a gorilla pod on the beach and have your family run out of the sea towards it as you splash through the waves.Portrait in the sea – Use the same camera set-up but lay down in the shallows for a close-up portrait of the family… but only if the sea is nice and warm!
Hand in hand – With a bit of planning you can create a classy and dynamic photo of the whole family. Dress everyone in white, set-up your camera along the sea shore, and run hand-in-hand towards the camera. This shot works great on a hot day set against a blue sky.

Another great way to preserve your summer memories is by creating a canvas storyboard. Instead of saying it all with
one image, you can create a story of your holiday with a collage created in Photoshop.
Take lots of snaps of you and your kids building sand castles, playing on the beach, burying you in the sand, etc,
and layer them up on a blank page in Photoshop. It’s easier than it looks and makes for a wonderful canvas print.
Picture frame fun
We’ve written about false perspective photos before, but this is a new idea that works great on the beach.
Find a cool picture frame (about A4 is ideal) and sink one corner of it into the sand so it’s standing up at a 45°angle.
Next, get down and shoot through it with your kids behind it and far enough back to look like they’re in the frame.
Shoot wide enough to make it obvious you’re on the beach… oh, and make sure your background isn’t cluttered so
that the frame is the star of the show.
These are just a few interesting ways you can turn your run of the mill holiday snaps into something special. In our
experience, canvas prints from photos that you’ve taken the time to set-up produce dynamic and fun results that stir
the imagination of anyone who views them.
