How To Display Canvas Prints For The Best Effects
Putting up your beautiful new artwork would seem to be easy, but it’s amazing how many people don’t know how to display canvas prints effectively.
If you take the time to plan ahead and think about your overall interior design strategy, you can make your canvas prints the star of the show or part of the supporting cast with ease!
Canvas prints work great anywhere… almost!
Art and interior design would appear to have lots of rules, and they can be quite a challenge to understand, but the most important rule is that if you like it, it works! Now, of course, there are certain guidelines that have stood the test of time because they appeal to the eye, and that’s what we’re going to help you with…
Don’t be afraid to be bold
We recommend cutting out pieces of old wallpaper or similar and playing around with the wall space you’ve reserved for your prints. It’s very common for people to order a new canvas and hang it only to discover that it’s nowhere near big enough to give the desired impact – we think you’ll be surprised at how big you can go!
The other option is to choose to make a photo wall feature by adding a few large canvases surrounded by lots of smaller ones. If you do this, again, don’t be afraid to go large with the centrepiece, and also to avoid being too regimented with your placement – a bit of seeming randomness will add life to the feature.
Think about colour
When learning how to display canvas prints, it’s really important to think about how you’re using colour in your spaces. Prints, or any art, look better hung on plain walls rather than brightly patterned wallpaper because you want them to shine, not get lost among the background. If you’ve gone to the trouble to photograph your subject, edit it, send it to us to be printed and wait for it to return to you, you want it to have pride of place, right?
This means that simple white or light grey walls are the best colour to display canvas prints on, but remember that the only real rule is to do what makes you happy! Maybe you want to fill your space with colour and choose to go a bit crazy with big, bold abstract prints on colourful walls – this is absolutely fine… if it’s a conscious decision rather than an unhappy accident!
We love to see people’s prints being given centre stage and take a great deal of pleasure when our clients learn how to display canvas prints with confidence, so we hope that these quick tips help you to enjoy yours more.
