Look for fab photo inspiration in these locations…
If you’ve got the urge to take some beautiful new snaps, but are lacking in photo inspiration, look no further – we’ve got a fabulous bunch of location ideas to get your feeling inspired and ready to go!
Local ruins
It may sound silly, but there’s nothing like a crumbling old building to inspire the creative process! We particularly love taking snaps of local ruins during the golden hour, or by the light of the moon (for atmospheric shots). While more historic ruins are great places to photograph, some people favour abandoned warehouses and dilapidated, once-loved houses. Just be sure to be safe and not break any trespassing laws!
An English country garden
We recommend getting your boots on and hauling yourself around to one of your nearby cultivated nature spots – here’s some ideas of locations for you:
● Botanical gardens, where you can get some beautiful botanical shots of rare and interesting plants
● Public parks are great for a little adventure with ample photo opportunities along the way
● Many grounds and gardens around stately homes are free to visit (apart from a possible parking fee) and are immaculately maintained; you will be sure to find a load of inspiration here. Have a wander and see if you can find a walled garden, maze, orangery or ornamental pond in to the bargain
● If you have limitations due to health, transport or cash, embrace the nature on your doorstep by going out into your local park or your very own garden; take your time and start to really notice what’s there, see what inspiration you can find.
Tick an item off your bucket list
We bet you’ve got a list of places you’ve always wanted to visit. Well now’s the time to get out your map (or, let’s face it, Google Maps) and travel to those places with your camera and see if you can get some world-class snaps.
Stately homes
These large, impressive aristocratic homes
are popular tourist spots and are beautifully well-kept. From their
grand exteriors to inspirational interiors, right through to their
sprawling grounds – each one is different and a source of a thousand
unique scenes to capture. If this is something that appeals, you might
even want to consider a National Trust membership to ensure free entry
to over five hundred unique locations under their care – this way you’ll
be hard-pressed to run out of places to photograph.
The beach
If you do like to be beside the seaside, grab your towel and head to the nearest coastline. Make sure your equipment is suitably protected against the sand and moisture, and venture across the sand, the surrounding land and see if you can spot a donkey ride, lighthouse or puppet show to add to your inspiration.
Museums
Get yourself onto TripAdvisor and scout out your
local museums for some close-to-home culture that will be sure to get
your creative juices flowing. Be it art, film, history or something more
niche, there’s some fabulous photo inspiration waiting to be snapped up
when you’re surrounded by new sights and exciting exhibits.
