Night photography ideas to inspire your next project
If you're in need of some night photography ideas, you’ve come to the right place – night images can make the perfect canvas wall art in a dining room, bedroom or even a living room! We’ve got some great plans for what you can get up to in the shadows to get some stellar snaps.
The city lights
Your local city at night is sure to deliver some spectacular photo opportunities… the main challenge is going to be finding a good, safe spot to set up your kit. You want to head a little outside the city if you’re going for a long shot, but those city lights are going to shine bright for you once you find the perfect place. You’ll get to see the street lights, architecture and the entire city-scape, beautiful!
Look up to the stars
For a more ambient and calming style of photo, get yourself some shots of the night sky; there are maps online which tell you the level of light pollution in different areas – the key here is to look for the places closest to you with the least light pollution and travel there on a clear night. You’ll be sure to get some really interesting night photography shots – but do make sure you take a tripod!
You could take photos of:
● The stars
● The moon
● The milky way
● A meteor shower
● A nightscape with a manmade or natural feature in the foreground
A fair idea for night photography
For an exciting time and even more thrilling photos, get yourself to the fairground at night. There are so many different elements to a fair that will inspire some great night photography ideas:
● Rides – the waltzers or the Ferris wheel are our favourites
● The stalls; popcorn, candy floss, hook-the-duck and more
● Fireworks, sparklers and neon lights
We love the idea of displaying fairground photo prints in a living room or dining area. They’d also make some brilliantly fun canvas or poster prints for the kids’ bedrooms.
Fire up your photography
Make the most of that family camping trip by building a big old fire and taking some fabulous photos of it. These fiery photos can add a super-homely touch to a living or dining room, especially if you don’t have a real fireplace to enjoy. Photos of your kids toasting marshmallows over is another lovely idea, providing you keep an eye on safety and not just your viewfinder! Alternatively, a bonfire and firework display or even a small fire in the garden will do!
Once you’ve got the photos you love, you’ll need to think about how and where you want to display them. Once you’ve decided, send your favourite night photography images to us and we’ll print them for you on whatever format you like.
