Star Maps
What time and place should I use for my star map?
By Your Image 2 Canvas
Use the time and place of the moment you want to remember. That might be a baby's arrival, your wedding ceremony, the evening you met or the day a new home became yours.

Choose the occasion first, then the style. The World Beneath the Stars, shown here with our fictional Parker family wording, gives the moment an Earth-horizon setting. Its Earth is artistic scenery; your selected location still belongs to the sky calculation.
For a birth
If you know the birth time, use that and the town or city where the baby was born. Check with a parent or a reliable family record, particularly when you are making a surprise gift.
Watch morning and evening: 02:30 is half past two in the morning; 14:30 is half past two in the afternoon.
For a wedding or anniversary
You might choose the ceremony, the first dance or another moment from the day. Use the original wedding date if that is the memory you are celebrating.
For a wedding abroad, enter the local time at the venue. Choose where the event happened, rather than where you are sitting while making the print.

What if I do not know the exact time?
Try to check first. If it remains unknown, you can choose an approximate time or a meaningful point in the day, but the map represents that chosen time. It should not be described as the exact sky at an unknown minute.
You can still make a thoughtful gift. “The day our story began” celebrates the occasion without claiming an exact instant.

Two easy checks before finishing
Confirm the place. Select the matching search result and check the location and time zone shown underneath. Enter local time; the creator handles daylight saving for the selected place and date.
Check midnight. Five past midnight belongs to the new calendar day, even when everyone remembers the event as part of the previous evening.
The creator guide shows those fields. Next, choose your Star Map style and a message that sounds like you.
From artwork to a finished canvas
These photographs from our Star Map page show real finished prints and their physical finish. They are existing workshop examples, separate from the fictional designs we made for this guide.

See the Star Map print options when you are ready to choose the format. Posters are supplied unframed; a floating frame is an optional canvas extra.
